Dinsmore Adding Dynamic, Women-Led Labor and Employment Team on the West Coast
Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is thrilled to welcome the labor and employment team of Rachel McClintock, Kelsey Scherr and Annie Turner to the Firm’s expanding West Coast roster. Rachel and Kelsey join as partners, and Annie joins as a senior associate of counsel. The talented attorneys arrive just months after Dinsmore nearly doubled its attorney headcount in San Diego through a merger with Mulvaney Barry Beatty Linn and Mayers.
Specializing in the healthcare, technology, manufacturing and service industries, the team keeps busy with a full scope of employment issues, including counseling, FEHA claims, administrative claims, class actions and PAGA claims. “What we will be able to offer our clients, extends far beyond the areas in which we routinely practice,” Rachel said, excited about the cross-marketing opportunities. “Clients want personable, high-quality attorneys in several jurisdictions. They will find those attorneys at Dinsmore and will also realize we can offer experience and services across multiple practice areas, such as cyber, intellectual property, commercial litigation, immigration and more.”
“Since opening the Los Angeles office in October 2018, Dinsmore has been looking to expand the Firm’s strong Midwest labor & employment practice to California,” said Peter Mastan, Los Angeles office managing partner. “I have looked at many opportunities to do so, but none were quite right, until this one. Rachel and her team are intelligent, hardworking, and dynamic. The wait was worth it and I’m excited for the future of Dinsmore’s west coast labor & employment practice and the continued growth of our Los Angeles office.”
When the team considered its next move, Dinsmore checked all the boxes. “It is a full-service firm on solid ground,” Kelsey said. “We are excited to have the autonomy and opportunity to grow a department that previously did not have a [permanent] presence on the West Coast.”
Dinsmore is committed to strategically growing the Firm nationally to meet client needs. Rachel and Kelsey will make recruiting in California a priority in their first few weeks with a “rising tide raises all boats” mentality. “We are excited about adding attorneys and business professionals who are motivated by teamwork and camaraderie,” Rachel said. “It is clear that Dinsmore’s managing partner and chair of the practice group are nimble, invested in the process, hard-working, smart people who are excellent attorneys but don’t take themselves too seriously. We want more of that.”
Rachel McClintock earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and her J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
