Dinsmore Adds Partner Kelvin M. Lawrence to Tax and Wealth Planning Group
Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is pleased to welcome Kelvin M. Lawrence as a partner to the firm’s Columbus office, where he will practice in the tax benefits and wealth planning group. Lawrence joins Dinsmore from Baker & Hostetler LLP.
With experience in a broad range of tax matters including transaction planning, audit defense, and tax controversy, Lawrence has helped businesses, individuals and nonprofit entities solve Ohio and multi-jurisdictional tax problems. He has represented clients before numerous state and local tax agencies, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, and the Ohio Supreme Court. Corporate clients value his guidance in multistate acquisitions and dispositions to minimize risks, particularly those associated with state transactional taxes and successor liability. He has also assisted a variety of nonprofit organizations in navigating tax-exempt issues, such as compensation procedures, property tax exemptions, and tax-exempt bond financing.
“As a tax attorney, I want to be a problem-solver for my clients. Dinsmore has a solid tax practice with a diverse base of dynamic and sophisticated clients in Ohio and across the country, so it was an attractive choice when I was looking to make a move,” Lawrence said.
Lawrence earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Florida A&M University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of and has held leadership roles with the American, Ohio State, Columbus and John Mercer Langston Bar Associations.
