We asked Jerrad: What do you believe is the formula for addressing LGBTQ+ issues within the legal industry while maintaining a solid, inclusive community that brings all of us together?
In a single word: Allies. What LGBTQ+ attorneys need is no different from our other colleagues: support, opportunities, and a conscious effort to help us develop and hone our skills. Even though Dinsmore boasts an increasing number of LGBTQ+ attorneys, the list of “allies” who form part of our Affinity Group makes us much stronger. Part of the reason I was successful at Dinsmore is because of the internal support, particularly from strong allies who valued my contributions and efforts.
Allies are crucial to making LGBTQ+ attorneys feel welcome and to our ultimate success. Their value cannot be emphasized enough.
