Dinsmore Adds Award-Winning Technology Transactions Partner to National Corporate Practice

Underlining a commitment to meeting the needs of clients operating at the intersection of business and technology, national law firm Dinsmore & Shohl LLP welcomes partner Mike Ryan to its corporate group to lead its technology transactions and sourcing practice. Mike’s arrival enhances the Firm’s service offerings in handling technology transactions, sourcing and complex commercial deals. Based in Chicago, he brings decades of experience advising clients on technology, data and business process services matters across industries, including banking and other financial services, healthcare, retail, software and consulting.

Mike’s practice focuses on helping clients structure, negotiate and execute a variety of technology-driven transactions, including agreements to develop, implement and support software and online platforms, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreements, product distribution and supply agreements, IP licensing and joint ventures. He also has deep experience in sourcing and procurement and often guides clients through the process of selecting and engaging providers of mission-critical services and products. His work frequently involves cross-border transactions and the use of global delivery models.

Beyond transactions, Mike provides strategic counsel on intellectual property licensing, data rights and regulatory compliance and often assists clients with the development and commercialization of new products and services. Mike has been recognized in the U.S. with the International Client Choice Award for Information Technology and is ranked among the top professionals in technology and outsourcing by Chambers USA and the U.S. Legal 500. A sought-after speaker, he regularly presents on areas such as artificial intelligence, intellectual property commercialization and cloud computing. He earned his B.A. in Sociology and Political Science from Yale University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Outside his law practice, Mike is actively involved with i.c. stars, where he serves on the board of directors. The organization’s workforce development program equips highly motivated, low-income adults with the skills and training needed to succeed in the tech industry through an intensive coding, business and leadership program.
