January 11, 2024News Releases

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is full throttle going into 2024, announcing another office addition, this time in the Lone Star State. Following the establishment of a Miami office and recent mergers in Orlando and San Diego, Dinsmore is laser-focused on calculated growth patterns and actively recruiting exceptional talent. This strategic move solidifies our presence in a dynamic new market that is ripe with opportunity.

Houston, one of North America’s largest and most diverse cities, is a vibrant hub for national and international corporations. Fueled by the influential Port of Houston and strategically positioned within the renowned “Texas Triangle,” the city is home to a variety of industries from healthcare to technology, alongside its prominent oil and gas sector. This unique blend creates a business environment unlike any other, presenting a myriad of distinctive legal complexities.

“From client service to cultural fit, market reputation, autonomy and transparency, Dinsmore checked all the boxes,” said Sarah Smith, “Dinsmore is incredibly well managed and has executed this transition seamlessly.” Sarah, who will lead the Firm’s Houston office is excited to bring “a full-service national law firm to the Gulf South.”

Specializing in a wide spectrum of litigation spanning state and federal courts, including complex commercial litigation, representation of design professionals, transportation, legal malpractice and coverage and bad faith matters, the legal acumen of this seven attorney powerhouse team runs deep.  In addition to Texas, Dinsmore’s newest partners have trial experience throughout the nation and routinely practice in Utah and Louisiana. Once established, Sarah has an “immediate eye towards expanding into additional practice areas” in this robust legal market.

“Not every firm can grow as rapidly as we are and maintain the culture that is so attractive to teams like Sarah’s,” said Joshua Lorentz, Dinsmore's managing partner. “Our Firm’s commitment to legal excellence and the magnetism of our collaborative spirit continues to drive our success.”

“A lot of thought went into making this move, and Dinsmore’s reputation precedes it,” Sarah said. “From my initial meetings with Firm leadership and discussions with colleagues in the industry, I am confident that we have found a home where we can jump right in and seamlessly serve our clients, while also having a high level of autonomy.” Sarah pointed to the diversity of the teams and leadership as another factor in her decision to join Dinsmore. “You look around and see women leading many of the Firm’s most successful practice groups and offices, and that’s really attractive.”
