The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to numerous unprecedented legal issues related to employee leaves of absence. The need for leave could arise from an employee’s own sickness, immunocompromised state, the sickness of a family member, childcare issues relating to school closings, and others. Most employers have seen a spike in requests for leave or other similar accommodations since March 2020; with vaccine mandates considered or implemented by many employers, these requests have increased.

Human resources professionals must understand the interplay between federal, state, and local leave laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), to make sound decisions.  This interactive, example-driven program will provide extensive coverage of employer obligations, and employee rights, under the FMLA, ADA, and other local, state, and federal laws and guidance.

We will review fundamental FMLA, ADA, and other leave-related concepts, and the nuanced issues faced by human resources professionals and supervisors on a daily basis; address these concepts through hypotheticals drawing on real employee leave situations; and provide the critical foundation employers need to address the most complex areas of local, state and federal leave laws and regulations, including the recent challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We hope you’ll join us.
