Katie P. Jacob

Biography

For more than 10 years, Katie has advised businesses, universities, entrepreneurs and elite professionals on complex matters of immigration law and compliance. Focusing exclusively in federal practice, she represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Labor, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Katie’s clients come from diverse fields such as information technology, hi-tech/electronics, and healthcare. In particular, these industries have fierce competition to hire and retain the best and brightest minds around the world. She ensures clients have access to a global talent pool through H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, as well as many other non-immigrant visas. Katie is well-versed in pathways to permanent residence, working with clients through labor certification filings, national interest waivers, and filings for foreign nationals with exceptional and outstanding abilities in their fields. In addition, she developed a niche healthcare practice for immigrant physicians through the filing of J-1 waivers, change of status petitions, and permanent residence options via PERM labor certification and National Interest Waivers for service in medically underserved areas.

She counsels and assists clients in understanding the importance of immigration compliance, particularly during times of heightened enforcement. Katie works with clients to solve multi-faceted I-9 compliance and E-Verify issues, assists with client I-9 self-audits, and represents clients in federal audit proceedings. She advises clients on best practices in preparing for immigration raids, site-visits and travel bans.

Katie's passion for immigration developed after working with refugees, asylum seekers and victims of international human trafficking at a legal aid clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the International Medical Graduates Taskforce (Membership Board and Award Committee), and the Cincinnati Bar Association. She volunteers her time to local and national organizations including Adopt-A-Class, Arts Wave, the Cincinnati Ballet, Pro Kids and the United Way. She enjoys spending her free time at the beach with her husband and three children.
