Dinsmore champions women’s rights and initiatives across all industries, and is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day and the unmatched mark of women in all areas of society. We want to introduce you to some of the women, both attorneys and staff, who help make up the fabric of the firm and contribute to help us accomplish more. Each of them has given their thoughts on the significant impact of women at Dinsmore and in society, as we look to a future of creating a more inclusive culture.
Meet Jessica Chang, Associate
As a female attorney, how do you view the inclusive culture at Dinsmore?
We are on the right path, but our work is far from over. The firm has definitely been more proactive in their attention to women’s issues and creating an inclusive atmosphere across all offices. Groups like the Women’s Initiative are setting the stage for more positive change in the present and future.
Everyone’s journey is different and challenges arise. With great progress already made, do you feel there are any significant challenges still for women to overcome?
Many women today have to face the challenge of being the nurturing caregiver of their home while balancing the day-to-day responsibilities of their career. As a working mother, I have two full time jobs, and I still feel women and men are taken to task over which of those jobs take precedence over the other. There is some guilt that comes along with it because it is difficult to give 110 percent to both jobs. Again, we are getting better at recognizing these challenges, and women and men are working together to make long-overdue changes.
What do you like to do for fun/what are your interests?
I love to spend time with my daughter, and when I get time, I’d love to become a world traveler.
