The End of an Era: Planning for the Expiration of the Public Health Emergency Waivers
The Department of Health and Human Services earlier this year announced the COVID-19 public health emergency, PHE, will expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. The emergency declarations, legislative actions by Congress and regulatory actions across government, including by CMS, allowed for changes to many aspects of health care delivery during the COVID-19 PHE. Under certain waivers, health care providers received maximum flexibility to streamline delivery and allow access to care during the PHE.
This webinar presented by Dinsmore & Shohl, LLC explained what regulatory guidance has been issued regarding the impact of the expiration of the PHE on waivers and flexibilities. The presentation focused on the issues that affect hospitals the most and provided practical tips on navigating this important transition.
